With NYCC 2015 now a distant memory we can look back on the cool reveals in the TMNT universe. See below for my breakdown and thoughts on all the new stuff that came out of NYCC ’15.
SH Figuarts Classic Ninja Turtles
This one was a big surprise but a very welcome one. SH Figuarts has been putting out some stellar toys as of late so seeing the classic cartoon TMNT at their booth was mind-blowing!
These look really fun and appear to have some great articulation. These are the sort of turtles many fans were hoping for with the Playmates classic line which fell a bit short. It makes you wonder if these will come with some interesting accessories in the end result?
I expect these to retail for about $40-$50 judging from other releases from SH Figuarts. Brace your wallets for another $200 attack!
Mega Bloks Ninja Turtles
We knew Mega Bloks had reclaimed the TMNT license but it wasn’t until now we actually got to see what they had planned, and what they have planned looks great!
Not only is Mega Bloks doing the Nick version but we also will see the classic cartoon get some love as well as the Half Shell Heroes brand. These little figures look great overall and I am rather excited to see what sets are released, more specifically for the classic cartoon. Who doesn’t want a Mega Bloks Party Van?!
First Gokin Shredder and TMNT
The First Gokin booth had the incredible Shredder for viewing but also as a huge surprise there were turtles! These turtles look tough as hell and give a bit of a TMNT 2K3 vibe in my opinion.
Not only do the sculpts look decent (maybe a tad large) but they will be coming with some slick accessories. My only issues are
- Price: Please don’t let these cost $150 a pop like Krang
- Scale: They need to be in scale with Shredder and Krang
With that said these do look promising but if the price and scale are not up to par I am going to let these pass by.
